Convention Overview

Delta Gamma Convention is an event where Delta Gamma members of all ages come together to conduct business, elect officers and celebrate sisterhood. This biennial event is rich in friendship, tradition and fraternal fellowship.

Convention 2024 will take place at the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Palm Desert, California. 

Convention will be held starting Thursday, June 27, 2024, and concluding the evening of Sunday, June 30, 2024. 

Any and all members of Delta Gamma are invited to attend Convention however, some members serve in roles that require their attendance in order to vote and conduct business of the Fraternity.

Each collegiate and alumnae chapter is required to send the president as a voting delegate.

If the president is unable to attend, they must email dgevents@deltagamma.org to request an attendance waiver and designate another chapter member to attend in their place.

Please note:

  • COLLEGIATE DELEGATES: All collegiate delegates must be onsite on Thursday, June 27 by 1 p.m. PST and may depart any time on Sunday, June 30. Training is from 2-4:30 p.m. and the Opening Banquet starts at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.  
  • ALUMNAE DELEGATES: All alumnae delegates must be onsite on Thursday, June 27 by 1 p.m. PST and may depart any time on Sunday, June 30. Training is from 2-4:30 p.m. and the Opening Banquet starts at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.  

A voting delegate helps conduct and votes on the official business of the Fraternity. They are required to attend each General Session and Election Forum along with all other programming noted in the Convention schedule. They enjoy all the rights and responsibilities associated with delegate status. A Convention voting delegate serves in one of the following positions: 

  • Council 
  • Fraternity Director 
  • Constitution and Elections Chairman 
  • Regional Team member 
  • Collegiate chapter president (or approved alternate) 
  • Alumnae chapter president (or approved alternate) 
  • Designated Council-appointed volunteer 
  • Fraternity Executive Director 

 

One of the most important duties of a delegate is electing Council: 

  • Council is comprised of the seven women who lead the Fraternity between Conventions. It Is important that delegates review the biographies of the candidates, listen to each candidate’s speech and responses to questions at the Election Forum, and discern independently the best candidates to lead the Fraternity in the next biennium.

  • Slated Endorsed by the Fraternity Nominating Committee, in accordance with the Constitution Article X, Section 1. 
  • Member nominated Nominated by at least two members in good standing, in accordance with the Constitution Article X, Section 2. 

Thursday’s Opening Banquet and Flamingle: Resort Casual (Dresses, jumpsuits, pants and a top, rompers, something you would wear on a beach vacation. Whatever you feel most comfortable in.)

Friday’s Foundation Banquet: Semi-Formal Attire (Cocktail dress, pantsuit, romper)

Saturday’s Closing Banquet and Celebration: Bronze, Pink and Blue (We encourage you to wear bronze, pink or blue formal attire. This can be dresses, jumpsuits, pantsuits, etc. Whatever you feel most comfortable in.)

Day time events: Business attire (Slacks, dress shirt, dress, heels, flats. Whatever you feel most comfortable in.)

Yes! We will also hold a first-timers session during Convention.  

  • Bring some spending money! There are several vendors to shop at during the event. 
  • Pack stationery to write letters to sisters onsite! 
  • Bring a sweater or light jacket. Hotel meeting spaces can sometimes be a bit chilly! 
  • You might do a lot of walking around the hotel. We encourage you to bring comfortable shoes for walking! 

Yes, there will be headshot opportunities throughout the week. View the schedule here. 

Yes, there is scheduled time to take photos with any group you are a part of. Whether it be an affinity group, alumnae group, collegiate chapter, etc. If you are interested in taking a photo with a group, that must be organized ahead of time. There will be no announcements made during the week to request a group photo for a particular group. 

The Foundation Constitution provides that the Board of Trustees is composed of six (6) trustees elected by the voting members of the Foundation and three (3) ex officio trustees who are the Fraternity President, Treasurer and Council Trustee: Fraternity Programming. Each elected Trustee serves a three (3) year term with two (2) Trustees elected each year. Elected Trustees are limited to serving two (2) terms, which do not have to be served consecutively.

Article III, Section 1 of the Delta Gamma Foundation Constitution defines the Voting members as: All of the elected members of the Foundation Board of Trustees, Foundation Executive Director, Foundation Directors and Coordinators, Fraternity Council and the Fraternity Directors. Voting members vote on Foundation business and elect Trustees to the Delta Gamma Foundation Board of Trustees at the Delta Gamma Foundation Annual Meeting.

Per Article VII, Section 1 E of the Delta Gamma Foundation Constitution, the Foundation Governance Committee met March 15-17, 2024 to slate the two vacancies on the Delta Gamma Foundation Board of Trustees. Per Article VII, Section 2 of the Delta Gamma Foundation Constitution no candidates were nominated by two participants of the Foundation. View information regarding the slated candidates here.

Registration

If your guest is a Delta Gamma, you must register them via their profile to attend the event. If your guest is not a Delta Gamma you can add them to your registration:

  • On your registration page, you will see the option to “add guest.” If you select that, you can add their information and select their package.  

Registration is now closed for members of Leadership. Registration will open for all other attendees in January.

Registration opens for members of Delta Gamma Leadership is now closed.  

Registration for collegiate and alumnae delegates, non-voting delegates and guests opens in January and closes April 22. Registration will not be extended beyond April 22. No exceptions will be made. 

You may cancel your registration and receive a full refund if you cancel before May 17, 2024 by contacting dgevents@deltagamma.org.

Any cancellations after May 17 are not subject to refund.

  • REQUIRED LEADERSHIP ATTENDEE: If you cannot attend Convention, or need to arrive late or depart early, please submit a waiver as soon as possible, but no later than November 17. This deadline is to allow for the events team to determine our room block needs before offering rooms to our non-delegate guests that will be in attendance. To request a waiver, please email dgevents@deltagamma.org.
  • REQUIRED COLLEGIATE OR ALUMNAE DELEGATE: Each chapter is required to send the president as a voting delegate. If the president is unable to attend, they must email dgevents@deltagamma.org to request an attendance waiver and designate another chapter member to attend in their place.

COLLEGIATE DELEGATES: The chapter is responsible for all travel related costs (flights/gas, food while traveling, parking, Uber, etc.). Convention was budgeted for in this fiscal year’s budget. Please work with your Regional Finance Specialist to confirm what your travel allotment is. Executive Offices covers the cost of all meals starting with Thursday dinner and ending with Saturday’s dinner, as well as the cost of your hotel room Thursday and checking out on Sunday. You will not need to pay for anything at the time of registration. The Fraternity finance team will work with your chapter to collect the registration fee through ACH after registration. 

ALUMNAE DELEGATES: The chapter is responsible for all travel related costs (flights/gas, food while traveling, parking, Uber, etc.). Please work with your chapter to determine what costs they will cover. Executive Offices covers the cost of all meals starting with Thursday dinner and ending with Saturday’s dinner, as well as covers the cost of your hotel room Thursday and checking out on Sunday. You will need to pay a small registration fee at the time of your registration. Please work with your chapter to determine the best method for payment/reimbursement. 

GUESTS: Guests are responsible for all fees.

Logistics, Hotel and Travel

Required Leadership, collegiate delegates and alumnae delegates will have their rooms booked by the events team. All non-delegates and guests will be responsible for booking their own rooms and must secure a roommate on your own. 

All non-required attendees are responsible for booking their own rooms. The Fraternity events staff will not handle booking anyone’s room or assist in roommate searches outside of those required to be in attendance at the event.  

To make a reservation under our group discount, please follow this link or call 1-877-622-3140 and ask to be placed in the Delta Gamma Fraternity Biennial Convention room block. 

Please note: 

  • COLLEGIATE DELEGATES: The Fraternity events staff will handle booking your hotel room. You will be paired with another collegiate delegate, and the Fraternity events team will do its best to pair you with a delegate from a similar region/chapter size. If you have a medical diagnosis or personal reason that you cannot share a room with another attendee, please email dgevents@deltagamma.org to request a rooming waiver. All waivers must be completed by March 29. 
  • ALUMNAE DELEGATES: The Fraternity will handle booking your hotel room. You will be paired with another alumnae delegate and the Fraternity events team will do its best to pair you with a delegate from a similar region/chapter size. If you have a medical diagnosis or personal reason that you cannot share a room with another attendee, please email dgevents@deltagamma.org to request a rooming waiver. All waivers must be completed by March 29. 

LEADERSHIP: You may request a roommate during the registration process. The events team will do their best to pair you with the person that you request. To guarantee that you are paired with your requested roommate, please ensure that you both list each other during registration. If you do not request a roommate, the events team will pair you based on position, region and initiation year. 

COLLEGIATE DELEGATES: Collegiate delegates will share a room with another collegiate delegate. The events team does their best to pair roommates based on region and chapter size. If you have a specific roommate request, please email dgevents@deltagamma.org to make that request. 

ALUMNAE DELEGATES: Alumnae delegates will share a room with another alumnae delegate. The events team does their best to pair roommates based on region, chapter size and initiation year. If you have a specific roommate request, please email dgevents@deltagamma.org to make that request. 

NON-DELEGATES: Non-delegates are to book rooms on their own and are responsible for securing a roommate if they wish to have one during Convention.

REQUIRED LEADERSHIP: If a member of Leadership would like to request a rooming waiver, they may do so by emailing dgevents@deltagamma.org. Waivers may be requested for medical reasons or personal reasons. If you request a single room for personal reasons, you will be responsible for a portion of your room cost. Single room requests will be served on a first come, first served basis and priority will be granted to those with medical waivers. 

COLLEGIATE/ALUMNAE DELEGATES: The Fraternity events staff will handle booking your hotel room. You will be paired with another delegate, and the Fraternity events team will do its best to pair you with a delegate from a similar region/chapter size. If you have a medical diagnosis or personal reason that you cannot share a room with another attendee, please email dgevents@deltagamma.org to request a rooming waiver. All waivers must be completed by March 29. 

If you are a non-delegate or guest, you are responsible for booking your own room for the duration of your stay. More information on the room block and how to book your room will be shared at a later date. Until that information is shared, please do not reach out to the hotel inquiring about rooms. 

If you are a member of Leadership or an alumnae or collegiate delegate and requesting a room outside of the dates that you are required to be onsite, please email dgevents@deltagamma.org. The events team will take care of booking your room and bill you or your chapter back after the event. 

Palm Springs International Airport. If you have a package that includes bus transportation, you must fly into PSP. Packages that include bus transportation are: required Leadership, collegiate and alumnae delegates and Bronze package. Buses will only be running to and from the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP).

Buses will pick up at the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) and drop off at the JW Marriott Palm Desert on Wednesday and Thursday, June 26-27,8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and will take attendees to the airport on Sunday, June 30from 5 a.m. – 6 p.m.  Anyone arriving or departing outside of the listed days and timesabove areencouraged to Uber/Lyft/cab to the resort. Note: Buses will only be running to and from the Palm Springs International Airport (PSP). If you have a package that includes bus transportation, you must fly into PSP. Packages that include bus transportation are: required Leadership, collegiate and alumnae delegates and Bronze package. Please submit the appropriate form below with your travel details.

There is complimentary onsite parking at the hotel. If you choose to valet, it cost $40.

Please note: members of Leadership will not be reimbursed for valet. Collegiate and alumnae delegates need to work with their chapter to determine what costs are being reimbursed. 

If you are a required attendee, you will not be asked to put a card down at the front desk. However, if you would like to order room service, charge anything to your room, etc., you will need to go to the front desk to put down a card. If you do not put down a card, you will not be able to charge anything to your room. 

If you are a non-delegate or guest and booking a room on your own, you will be required to put a card down upon checking into the hotel. 

Regional Race

The Delta Gamma Foundation’s Regional Race is one of the most anticipated and spirited giving opportunities! Each Convention year, sisters from all over the world rally together to make sure their region is the top Foundation supporter through generous giving. This year’s Regional Race is even more exciting than usual with our 71st Biennial Convention being the grand finale of the Foundation’s Comprehensive Campaign: Anchoring the Future and the Fraternity’s sesquicentennial. 

Regional Race gifts can be made online ahead of the convention as we get closer to the event, and you will also be able to follow each region’s progress. Please direct questions to Samantha Mogab Wildrick, annual giving manager, at dgfoundation@deltagamma.org.  

We hope that you will support the Loyalty Fund through your Regional Race Gift.
